A material test certificate (MTC) documents that a batch of material has been tested and meets a stated specification. The content and the level of independence vary between certificate types.
Typical content
- Material designation and specification
- Heat, cast or batch identification
- Chemical composition results
- Mechanical test results where required
- Standard or certificate type referenced (for example EN 10204)
Stating your requirement
Name the certificate type and test scope on the purchase inquiry: for example chemical analysis only, chemical plus mechanical, or third-party witnessed testing. What the company can supply is confirmed per order.
Always check that the certificate refers to the delivered material and that traceability marks on the product match.
