Bronze material family
Tin Bronze
Cast copper-tin-zinc bronzes for pressure tightness, strength and corrosion resistance.
Overview
Tin bronzes are classic copper-tin-zinc casting alloys with little or no lead. They are noted for pressure tightness, good corrosion resistance in water and steam and good wear performance. C90300 (about 8% tin) and C90500 (about 10% tin, “gun metal”) are the two grades listed here.
They are used for gears, worm wheels, valve and pump parts and marine hardware, usually in cast bar or sand-cast form.

Grades in this family

Selection guide
- General pressure-tight castings and bushings: C90300.
- Harder, wear-resistant gears and bearings: C90500.
- Easier machining with marginal lubrication: consider C93200.
- Heavier duty: consider aluminum bronze.
