Aluminum Bronze
C95500 — Nickel-Aluminum Bronze (Ni 3–5.5%)
A higher-strength cast aluminum bronze with added nickel, used for heavily loaded gears, bearings and corrosion-resistant components.
Grade overview
C95500 adds about 3–5.5% nickel to the iron-bearing aluminum bronze base. The nickel improves strength and toughness, particularly after heat treatment, and widens corrosion resistance in comparison with C95400.
It is typically specified when C95400 does not quite provide the strength or hardness needed – for example in heavily loaded gears and bushings, pump parts and valve components for corrosive service.
Alloy family and identification
Cast copper-aluminum-nickel-iron alloy, UNS C95500. Related to C95400 and C95800; check the exact UNS number on the order since they are not interchangeable.

Corrosion and wear considerations
Good corrosion, cavitation and wear resistance across a range of fresh-water, brackish and process fluids. Heat treatment can raise strength further. For long-term sea-water immersion, C95800 is usually the specified grade.
Machinability and fabrication
Machinable with rigid tooling; expect higher tool wear than for leaded bronzes. Heat treatment and weld repair must follow qualified procedures.
Common industrial applications
- Heavily loaded gears and worm wheels
- Bushings and bearings
- Pump impellers and wear parts (design dependent)
- Valve components
- Flanges and fittings for demanding service
Examples only. Suitability must be confirmed for the actual operating environment.
Available product forms
