Bronze fittings
Flared Bronze Fittings
Bronze fittings with flared tube connections for demountable joints on soft tube.
Overview
A flared connection forms a conical flare on the tube end that is clamped against a matching seat by a nut. The flare provides a metal-to-metal seal and makes the joint demountable. It is typically used with soft, ductile tube such as copper.
Flare angle, tube OD, wall thickness and nut thread must all match between tube, fitting and nut; these are confirmed from your drawing or standard.

Flared connections
The flare is formed on the tube end with a flaring tool to a defined angle. The seat on the fitting and the flare must match in angle and size.
Tube compatibility
Soft annealed copper tube is a common partner. Hard or thick-walled tube may crack when flared. Always check tube material and wall against the fitting design.
Connection geometry
Geometry includes flare angle, seat diameter and nut thread. State the standard or give a drawing – no standard is assumed on this website.
Pressure and service limitations
Pressure and temperature limits depend on design, tube, size and standard and require confirmation. No ratings are published on this site.
Material compatibility
Bronze flared fittings are commonly specified for water, refrigeration-type and general fluid service. Check the fluid, temperature and lead restrictions when choosing the grade.
Installation and maintenance considerations
Use a correctly sized flaring tool, avoid over-tightening the nut and inspect flares on re-assembly. Repeated disassembly may require re-flaring.
