Bronze fittings are classified by how they connect to the system – and by the alloy they are made from. Understanding both is the first step in a correct specification.
Connection styles
- Silver brazing and solder-joint fittings use socket (cup) connections joined by capillary-flowing filler metals.
- Threaded fittings use male and female threads and need a confirmed thread standard.
- Flared and compression fittings make demountable connections to tube.
- Cast fittings describe how the body is made and can have any of the connection styles.
- Marine and custom fittings are defined by the service or by your drawing.
Material choices
C83600 and C84400 are the general-purpose fitting alloys; C92200 is a steam and valve bronze; aluminum and nickel-aluminum bronzes serve more demanding and marine duties; C89833 is a lead-free option for restricted services.
